The Arizona Cardinals report to training camp on July 22 and begin the process of preparing for the regular season, forming the roster and determining starting jobs and roles on the team.
Leading up to the start of camp, we will take a look at every player on the offseason roster, their background, their contract, their play in 2025, questions they face and their roster outlook.
Here is running back James Conner.
Conner enters his 10th NFL season and his sixth with the Cardinals. After two consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons, setting career highs each year, he suffered a season-ending foot/ankle injury in Week 3. He rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown in 32 attempts before his season ended.
Entering the final year of his three-year contract, he redid his deal to take a pay cut. He will make a fully guaranteed $2.355 million in salary, with a cap hit of more than $4.8 million.
As one of the Cardinals' most productive running backs in their history, he faces a new role. Tyler Allgeier and No. 3 overall pick Jeremiyah Love are ahead of him on the depth chart, but the Cardinals clearly wanted to keep him, as they redid his deal with a fully guaranteed salary. How much will he play this season?
Will he be traded to another team where he could play more? He is their most tradeable asset in the running back room.
If he is not traded, he is a lock for the roster, although he is a candidate to trade. It will be interesting to see what his role will be if he is on the final roster.
