The Arizona Cardinals report to training camp on July 22 and begin the process of preparing for the regular season, forming the roster and determining starting jobs and roles on the team.
Leading up to the start of camp, we will take a look at every player on the offseason roster, their background, their contract, their play in 2025, questions they face and their roster outlook.
Here is guard Hayden Conner.
Conner enters his second NFL season and second with the Cardinals. He was drafted last year in the sixth round out of Texas. He began the season on injured reserve with a knee injury he suffered in the preseason. He was activated to the 53-man roster for the final six weeks of the season, was inactive one game and appeared in five games, logging 29 snaps on offense and 19 on special teams.
Conner is in Year 2 of his four-year rookie contract worth more than $4.1 million. He is scheduled to make almost $1.01 million in 2026, the league minimum for a second-year player, and his contract will count almost $1.05 million against the salary cap.
As a back-of-the-roster guy last year, he is in a battle for a spot on the roster. He is a player on the roster bubble. With the addition of guard Isaac Seumalo and guard Chase Bisontis in the draft, his spot is more tenuous, but if this coaching staff sees him more as a center, he will battle Jon Gaines for the backup center job.
Will these coaches see the potential the last staff thought he had?
The battle for the backups on the offensive line is going to be an interesting one to watch.
