The Arizona Cardinals report to training camp on July 22 and begin the process of preparing for the regular season, forming the roster and determining starting jobs and roles on the team.

Leading up to the start of camp, we will take a look at every player on the offseason roster, their background, their contract, their play in 2025, questions they face and their roster outlook.

Here is kicker Chad Ryland.

Chad Ryland background, 2025 season

Ryland enters his fourth NFL season and third with the Cardinals. He was drafted in 2023 by the New England Patriots in the fourth round and kicked for them as a rookie, making 16-of-25 field goals. He was cut the next season and signed by the Cardinals when Matt Prater got hurt. He has been the Cardinals' kicker ever since.

Last season, he was 25-for-33 on field goals, with four of his eight misses from at least 50 yards. He made all 36 of his extra points.

Chad Ryland contract details, salary cap hit

Ryland was a restricted free agent, but the Cardinals did not tender him. Instead, he re-signed on a one-year, $1.85 million deal. He received a $325,000 signing bonus, and he will make more than $1.4 million in salary in 2026. He has $150,000 of that guaranteed. His cap hit will be $1.85 million.

Roster outlook, questions he faces

While kickers are often easily replaced, he is the only kicker on the roster, so he should make the team. However, the question is whether or not he can return to his 2024 form, when he missed only four field goals all season. Hopefully, he will not have to deal with the turnover at holder like last season.
