The Arizona Cardinals have opened training camp and are on the third day of their four-day blocks of practice. Pads have not gone on yet, but the competition has begun.
Some positions and starting jobs are fairly set. We know who will be the starting receivers, the starting tight end and most of the offensive line.
However, other spots are more up for grabs.
These are the starting job position battles to watch in training camp.
While most presume that Jacoby Brissett will be the starter, Gardner Minshew took all the first-team reps in the offseason and has been taking first-team reps in practice in training camp so far.
Minshew has starting experience. Brissett is in a contract dispute. We will see how this goes.
Tyler Allgeier, signed in free agency, and No. 3 overall pick Jeremiyah Love are the guys to watch. Both will be important to the offense, but who will ultimately be the guy to start and end games? Allgeier has been with the first-team offense so far.
Isaiah Adams finished the last two seasons as the starting right guard. The Cardinals drafted Chase Bisontis in the second round. Adams has been with the first-team offense all offseason, but can the rookie beat him out?
Mack Wilson is going to be the starting "Mike". The second inside linebacker next to him is between 2025 fifth-round pick Cody Simon and free agent addition Jack Gibbens.
Will Johnson, drafted in the second round last year, is presumably one of the two starting outside corners. The other side is battle between Denzel Burke, Star Thomas, Max Melton and others.
With Jalen Thompson leaving in free agency, his starting job is up for grabs. Will it be Dadrion Taylor-Demerson, who played a lot last season as the third safety on the field in dime packages or big nickel packages? Or will it be newcomer Andrew Wingard, signed in free agency after he started 16 games for the Jacksonville Jaguars last season?
