The offseason workouts for the Arizona Cardinals are ending this week, and for the rookies, it was their first taste of what the NFL is about.

For first-round pick Jeremiyah Love, as it is for all the newcomers, it’s about becoming acclimated and fitting in with a new set of teammates and coaches.

Of course, for Love, he was doing it after signing a four-year contract (with a fifth-year option) that was worth a fully guaranteed $53.02 million and included a $35.02 million signing bonus.

The well-grounded Love has gone on record saying he will invest that money while living off his NIL earnings at Notre Dame along with endorsement dollars.

To that end, in a one-on-one interview with Cards Wire recently, he was asked if he had gifted his parents with any surprises yet.

“Nah, I haven't bought anything yet,” he said. “Whenever I do choose to use that money, it'll be to take care of my people. I'll probably give my mom and dad some money and they can do whatever they please with that money. My parents are smart, so I know they would handle that money very smartly so that way I probably don't have to give them another dime. My dad could use $1 million and that could last them for the rest of his life, same as my mom, if you handle it right.

“So I'll take care of them. They'll take care of the rest of my family so that I don't have to worry about other people other than just going out there and playing ball. Yeah, that'll probably be the first thing I'll do with that money.”

Speaking of endorsements, when Love signed his Cardinals contract, it was with a Sharpie S-Gel pen, one that he made sure to note doesn’t smear, smudge or bleed.

He said, “I've been using Sharpies my whole life. I kid you not, man. As a kid like growing up. Sharpie reached out to my team, showing interest. And obviously, using Sharpies my whole life, I had interest from the get-go. That's how it got started.”

Love added, “Sharpie is composed of great individuals. I feel very blessed to be a partner with them because everything that I've done with them thus far has been easy, it's been enjoyable. And it's been for a greater purpose. The partnership started just from mutual connection. We both wanted each other.

“I plan to continue developing a great relationship with the people of Sharpie and hopefully we can turn this into something past the contract as it is right now, hopefully some future opportunities as well. But as of right now, man, I'm enjoying my time, doing great things with them and making sure that I'm representing them right.”

Personalized cleat designs will likely be a future collaboration along with his Jeremonstar comic book.

“There's been a lot of businesses and organizations reaching out to buy into the comic and Sharpie wanted to pour into that aspect of me as well,” he said. “And that's another reason why I like Sharpie and why I think this relationship is just so great because Sharpie didn't have to do that. They didn't have to see my comic book and say, ‘Hey, we're gonna buy into this. We're going to help you out or invest in you a little bit.’ And they did, and that just goes to show what great of an organization that they are. They connect with people outside of the business, which is everything to me.”

Love receives a great deal of support for the comic book from his dad, Jason, who understands his son’s striving to be authentic.

Jeremiyah said, “Jeremonstar is becoming a bigger and bigger thing as I'm learning from my dad. He does all that comic book stuff for me. I just make sure that everything looks right and sounds right and stuff like that. But as far as illustrations, narrative and stuff like that, I don't do none of that. My job is to play football and everybody else takes care of the rest for me. Sharpie has been very good in the aspect of making sure they connect with me and know some of my personal endeavors.”

When asked about his individuality, personality, style and how that comes together in what he does off the field, Love said, “I'm always going to be authentically me and I'm the type of guy that's going to like the things that I like and not be ashamed to show the world about it. Jeremonstar is really that. I love comics, I love anime and stuff like that. It’s about me being authentic, me being true to myself. I wanted to share that so people get a little bit of insight into my life other than just football. And that's how I go about everything that I do, not just with my comments.

“Just making sure that if I love something, I like something, and I want to share it with people, I do it how I want to do it.”
