The NFL draft is a little more than two weeks away, which means there is still time for a few mock drafts. In new two-round projections from Draft Wire managing editor Jeff Risdon, we see the Arizona Cardinals continue to build up their defense.
Despite drafting five cornerbacks in the last two years and three in last year's draft, they go with a cornerback in Round 1 and then add to their edge presence in the second round, continuing to build the defensive front seven after their work in free agency.
Who are their picks in these projections?
With Georgia linebacker/pass rusher Jalon Walker on the board still (he goes 17th overall in this mock), it would be hard to see Johnson be the pick. However, the Cardinals do like taking cornerbacks, as they have drafted five in the last two years and three with picks in the top 90.
Johnson has a higher ceiling than any of the guys they have, but it is a tough room to crack right now.
Jackson in the second round makes sense. The EDGE class is deep and Jackson has insane measurables. His lack of elite production makes a second-round pick worth the risk.

Cardinals picks in 2-round mock draft
- Round 1 (No. 16 overall): Michigan CB Will Johnson
Johnson would bring a playmaking panache to the Cardinals secondary. His length and confidence are both top-shelf. Originally had a reunion of Emeka Egbuka with Marvin Harrison Jr. here but opted for the higher-ceiling player.
- Round 2 (No. 47 overall): Arkansas EDGE Landon Jackson
