I'd say "shoot" like crap more than play like crap but yeah, that was a blowout that didn't feel like one. I've never seen this team miss so many layups, putbacks and short/mid-range shots. When UCF cut it to 12 and we kept missing FT after FT, I'm sure a lot of fans were concerned probably till that momentum changing 3 by Burries.
I'm blaming that ******** court.

Foul problems are really changing this game. Arizona's big lead is now down to 3. Awaka has 4 fouls in his meager 12 minutes and Koa has 4 now too. They've protected Krivas by resting him often so he only has 3 in his 18 minutes but that front court is in a lot of trouble.

The fact that Arizona isn’t the favorite for the #1 overall seed is a travesty.

There have been some serious great championship week games. Zona made this too close. But man are they resilient. Starting three frosh is impressive.

All season long it has seemed as if the 'experts' were always looking for a reason to move someone in front of the Cats whether it was Michigan or Nebraska or Duke or whoever so I'm not surprised. I'd imagine it's because teams that don't make a lot of 3s are often upset victims in the tournament.

At this point though, considering that Duke will likely be without their starting PG and maybe their starting center, giving the number one seed to the Blue Devils seems weak and inconsistent with what the committee has done the past few decades regarding late season injuries. Fortunately, it really doesn't matter who gets the top seed. Obviously Arizona will face teams that can beat them but I don't see a possible matchup out there that would make me doubt this group.

This is how I see it, but what brings our metrics down compared to others is that our cream puffs on the OOC schedule were worse than the others’ cream puffs. Who cares if Western Carolina is better than Norfolk State?

Agreed. It’s the top that should count. Blowing out dregs shouldn’t matter. In fact, below a certain threshold those wins should all count evenly imo. Zona’s losses were teams with an average rank of 15 whereas dukes losses were teams with an average rank of 17.5.

The reality is, these are two very closely accomplished programs this season. But yesterday I was listening to the leader of the selection committee and he explicitly mentioned they have to take into consideration injuries and roster as it exists now. Unless Bradley can’t play due to his wrist (and he returned to the game) Dukes injuries has to lower them a spot imo. If it doesn’t, it’s just old school Duke preferential treatment.

He had to many bad turnovers in this tournament. Not sure how he won MVP but not sure who else should have got it. Team game
It’s what makes me hopeful and worried about Zona at the same time. They really are a team. Different players step up in different games. Tough to shut them down as a result. But conversely, it’s not unusual to have a top player lift the team and carry them through a tourney run. Someone you just get the ball to in tough periods and let them work. That doesn’t really exist on this roster.

What they do have that I don’t think I’ve seen from recent Tommy teams is toughness. They seem unflappable. Teams like Houston don’t intimidate them.
