The World Cup round of 32 match between title holders Argentina and debutants Cape Verde has gone into extra-time after a 1-1 draw in regular time on Friday.
Lionel Messi extended his record to 20 goals at World Cups and scored his seventh of this tournament to give Argentina the lead in the 29th minute.
But the world champions were stunned in the 60th as Deroy Duarte got a heroic equalizer for underdogs Cape Verde, causing fans in the stadium to burst into tears.
Goalkeeper Vozinha also made superb saves to force extra-time, denying Messi a winner three times.
The winner of the match will face Egypt in the last 16.
