I agree. I hope he has the discipline to make it as a Safety, cause the talent is definitely there. You can't just fall on four int returns in a year (I coiunt the third one in Cincy). From seeing him on TV alot (living here in md), I really think he could be the same type of player as Ed Reed.
To add he returned I believe 80% of his picks? Like others have said the Cards need to find a way to get Antrel on the field. The THP (Terrance Holt Project) didn't work. FS is just a good a spot as any. From what Antrel has stated in post interviews his study of film makes me think he would also be a good FS.

Do we have any quotes from Rolle himself about the possibility of playing FS?

On Ch 12 Sunday, he said he's a corner. He did say he would play anywhere the coaches wanted him to, but he obviously does not like the idea of playing safety.

It reminds me a lot of the Corey Chavous situation when he played for us.

??

What part? I like it..."I'm a corner, but i'll play wherever the coaches put me."

He feels he is a corner, can't blame him for it...it's hard to see your own failings and he can't cover top WRs...but he isn't stubborn...he wants to be on the field.

All of his quotes have been like that...on the BRR he said as much...put me anywhere on the field, FS, LB, CB and I'm going to make plays. I happen to believe the only place he'll do that consistently is at FS, but I wouldn't say it is stupid of him to say it.

Now, Antron would say "If I'm in the building, I'm scoring a TD."

The thing that is stupid, is that he isn't a "good" corner in this league, but looks to be an above average safety. He is a great tackler, but has poor CB skills. He has poor acceleration, has slow hips, and rarely gets to play to his strengths (being physical) because of rules about touching receivers down the field. If you are lining up 8 yards from the LOS, you pretty much can't touch the receiver at all.

When you want to see the field as much as possible, I think you should keep those comments to yourself. Reminds me of Amare Stoudemire saying that he is a PF instead of a C.

I would only think it were stupid if he were steadfast in that he is a corner and that's all. He's eager to play FS because he'd be playing, that's how he came across in the BRR. He prefers corner, but he would play his heart out at any position.

One thing you can't say about Rolle is he doesn't play his heart out...he works hard out there. I was impressed with his work ethic after getting demoted TWO rungs down the ladder from CB1 to nickel...some guys would have turtled and he just came out and played hard no matter what. Now, he's not a good corner, but I admire his tenacity.

And once he tasted his first PB as a safety, he'd probably never talk about the CB spot again. :)

I don't know what to think of you, thinking that Rolle will be a multiple probowler.

At FS, I honestly think he could. He has the perfect toolset for it and will be able to grab some INTs and take them back to the house. Like CFMD said, you just don't wake up with 4 int returns (i too count his third in Cinci). You earn that.

I honestly don't think that Rolle will start at FS next year.

I think it's only natural that Rolle would say he would rather play corner than safety, I mean that is the position he was drafted to play here and where he has played his entire career even though he hasn't been very successful there.

The other part of it is that big time corners make a lot more $$ than big time safeties, and despite not looking very good at the position he seems to have a lot of confidence in himself so of course he's going to to say he'd prefer to stay corner.

At the same time it is very encouraging to hear he is willing to play wherever the coaches see fit. I personally have felt for the past two seasons he would be much better suited at the FS position than CB, hopefully Whis makes the move this off-season. If he isn't outright moved to FS then do what we did with AW and make the guy a hybrid nickel/rover/whateveryouwanttocallit, basically create a position for him within the framework of the D that gets the most out of his abilities.

Do you not agree that Holt was the worst starter at his position this season?

As for Rolle, I think his knee injury really st him back. I think he was 10x faster when he came out of school... Still, I'd love to see him get a shot at FS...

he was faster you are absolutely right, before he got hurt in a preseason game against dallas i believe they called a go route and being a rookie in his first game he was caught out of position , so he had to turn on the burners and catch the reciever in the endzone and try to bat the ball away which he did, that play sticks out in my mind because i thought damn this kid is fast and hes gonna be a hell of a corner for us,
then the injury came and i have heared it takes one to two years to recover your speed but it looks like this is as fast as hes gonna get, good enough for safety but not a number one corner,

he needs to be given a shot at safety before we give up
