If he has a solid year next with us at FS, he will be resigned to be the FS of the future. (TM).

If not, let him walk.

I agree we need to let him walk should he not fare well at S. Thats his last shot. I really hope to HAVE to redo him next year based on play. Would be nice to get Wilson and Boldin done so they are life long CArds next year too.

Whiz didnt have the know-how to put Davis at guard what are the odds he sees the obvious signals to put Rolle at safety?

For the record, I heard the comment by Wolfley today, and he did NOT question Rolle's tackling ability. He questioned his athleticism and his instincts. That was it... He didn't dwell on it. Frankly, prior to this game today, Rolle had one good game all year, with the rest being bad to really bad games.
Rolle is most definitely NOT a "blazer", either as a CB or FS. He's got below average speed and worse, below average quickness...
I'd like to see him get a shot at FS. Who knows, maybe he can hold it down there... But you need to ease up on Wolfley...
Welll, if he has bad speed, bad insticts and bad quickness, how does he take it to the house almost everytime he touches it?

Did you watch Big this year?? He was exactly the same as he was here. You are right. Whiz and Rod are idiots for not wanting to kick out 50mil to a guard who is routinely offsides, when they can get Faneca, who is far better and cheaper the following season.

I did watch BIG this year and yes he was the same as he was in Arizona, knocking people aside like they were gnats. Since he played guard he didn't have to worry about defenders lining up 15-20 feet outside and trying to run around him which is what he struggled with at Tackle and so he is starting in the pro-bowl.

As for being offsides the fact that the Cards had even more false starts this season than they did last year answers that question. It is a team problem not a Davis problem.

But I really don't think Whisenhunt had the opportunity to move BIG to guard. IMO Davis was gone whether the new staff wanted to keep him or not. Too much water under the bridge and too much money offered from other teams.

Hope we don't run into the same problem with Dansby.

Pure speculation, especially considering Whiz never coached Leonard Davis.

The decision to let him walk was made before Whiz was even hired. There was no way this organization was going to pay out 50 million dollars to a guy that has sucked in AZ for 4 years. The decision to let Davis walk had nothing to do with Whiz.

It was also the right choice. I don't care if he won a popularity contest of pro bowl voting because he's a Cowboy. He's a good guard, but no Guard in the world is worth $50 mil. Leonard Davis is a fat, greedy, money grubbing pile of trash and he's right where he belongs in Dallas.

Not according to everything I've seen, heard or read. Wolfley and Pasch seem to think he's missed an excessive number of tackles this season and I've seen him whiff on more than one occasion trying to make the big hit rather than the sure tackle. Wolfley said today he feels he'd be a failure at sfaety due to his poor tackling.

Hardy Brown knows alot about football. Enough to be really wrong sometimes.

Who is he??

A poster who many thought was Wolfley. Very good insight, knew what he was talking about and very wrong about a few things. No big deal because we are all wrong occasionally.

i mean we found pace's niche i think antrell should be put in a position to succeed , now if we can find a way to make use of jj arrington we will be on to something,

I think we have seen enough of JJ to know he just does not have NFL capabilities. I still think Rolle could possible make it as a Safety. How old is Wilson? He is still a lights out player but like anyone his day will come. We probably need to sign two RB's this off season to replace JJ and Shipp. One of them should be a big dude who weighs around 245+.

I was reading an article the other day that RB's are generally on the downside after age 30 if they make it that far. They take more hits than any other position and the average career is 4 years. James must have taken 3 years off his carreer this year. He never quit and just kept churning which takes its toll.

When a guy performs at a high level just one time, he should be able to be taught to repeat that performance again.

We've seen Rolle have outstanding games twice (which suggests he can be taught to have outstanding games in the future). I think it's fair to ask both Antrel and the coaching staff "what happened in the other 14 games?"

I think an interesting comparison can be drawn between Antrel and Fitzgerald or Boldin. Fitz and Q aren't blazers, but they combine ridiculous athleticism with toughness and awesome position technique.

Antrel isn't a blazer, but Antrel is athletic and tough. What Antrel lacks is the awesome technique. I maintain that technique-skills can be taught.

I'd like to throw out a challenge to Antrel for the off season leading up to training camp. Do the same kinds of things Fitz and Q have done (and with the same intensity) to perfect their craft & that make them elite among NFL receivers.

This has nothing to do with whether he's a safety, a corner or a slot guy. I challenge Rolle to join A-Dub to become the Fitz and Q of defensive backs.

(I think he's got it in him).

Because of his obscene salary, huge ego and poison pill contract that forces a renegotiation after this next season, Rolle will get 1 year to prove his worth as a FS, in my opinion.

As a third db on a slot receiver, he makes too much money.

The joker in every teams deck, the salary cap. Which guys can you let go because of the money and which ones do you keep?

If you keep letting go every guy who makes too much money for what he's producing for a particular position how can you ever build a veteran team through the draft?

On the other hand if you keep guys that are being paid more than what their position would dictate you have to pass on other players who might be more productive at their position because you don't have the money to pay them.

Tough job, GM, but then that's why they get paid the big dollars.

I like him, but for what I'm not sure. His return skills after interceptions are SICK. Not sure what that means. Punt returner? Free safety? If Whiz can figure out what to do with him, he could be a real pleasure to watch.

I only wish he weren't so childish in the way he celebrates. He has gotten a penalty each and every time. What a baby.

Playmakers are hard to find. Rolle has more than earned a shot at safety despite his shortcomings.

I agree that playmakers are hard to find and Rolle is a playmaker. The Cards need to see where he can best fit. He can't, however, stay at the CB position. (Yeah, I know I am Captain Obvious with this statement.)

I agree. I hope he has the discipline to make it as a Safety, cause the talent is definitely there. You can't just fall on four int returns in a year (I coiunt the third one in Cincy). From seeing him on TV alot (living here in md), I really think he could be the same type of player as Ed Reed.
