NEW DELHI: Anvay Dravid played a brilliant knock of 87, but it was not enough as Sri Lanka U-19 defeated India U-19 by eight wickets in the second Youth ODI on Monday to level the three-match series 1-1.

The son of former India captain Rahul Dravid scored a fluent 87 off 67 balls to help India post 285. However, opener Dimantha Mahavithana stole the show with an unbeaten 155 as Sri Lanka chased down the target with two wickets down and two overs to spare.

After electing to bat, India U-19 were in trouble at 81 for four in the 19th over.

Anvay and Arjun Rajput then rebuilt the innings with a superb 145-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Rajput scored 76 off 81 balls before being run out by a direct throw from Mahavithana.

Anvay played attacking cricket throughout his innings, hitting nine fours and a six. He reached his maiden Youth ODI fifty in just 47 balls and looked set for a century before left-arm pacer Gimhan Mendis dismissed him for 87.

His wicket left India at 263 for seven, and the visitors lost their final three wickets for just 22 runs to finish on 285.

Mendis was Sri Lanka's best bowler with figures of five for 41.

Mahavithana's unbeaten 155 seals easy chase

Sri Lanka made light work of the chase, reaching 291 for two in 48 overs.

Mahavithana anchored the innings with an unbeaten 155 off 153 balls. He first added 103 runs for the second wicket with Senuja Wekunagoda, who made 60, before sharing an unbroken 163-run partnership with captain Vimath Dinsara, who remained unbeaten on 56.

The dominant chase helped Sri Lanka level the series after India had won the opening Youth ODI by four wickets.

In the first match, India chased down 321 with four balls to spare, although Anvay managed only 14.
