Anthony Edwards might be only 23, but he has become the most commanding voice in the Minnesota Timberwolves locker room. He has led them with his on-court production, but he is also a vocal leader.
Everyone in the Timberwolves organization is glad he has embraced his role because it has panned out well. Ant's teammates trust him to say the right thing and produce on the court.

A leader is one of the most valuable roles for any team that wants to compete. Karl-Anthony Towns did well in that role while Edwards was a rising star. With KAT getting traded in the 2024 offseason, Ant took charge and embraced his new role as the undisputed leader.
He has become more popular in the Timberwolves locker room because they understand his leadership style. No matter what, the players know Ant is coming from the right place, as they all want to win.
Most people expect Mike Conley Jr. to be the Timberwolves' biggest leader. However, he has taken a step back and has taken a backseat to Edwards. The veteran guard still has an important role because he is part of the leadership group.
Conley wants more people to respect what Edwards is doing because he is doing it on the court and in the locker room.
"Just saying how this ain't gonna be good enough, what we were doing at the time. Our ability to turn a switch on and off is not going to be there, so we have to be locked in and ready to go," Conley said of Edwards' leadership ahead of Game 5. "To have that awareness to say those things at his age is very important, and it gave us a good springboard into the postseason."
This is huge praise from Conley because he is a respected veteran within the roster. Edwards is the loud and commanding voice, but Conley has earned everyone's respect with his near-20-year NBA career.
Minnesota almost made it to the NBA Finals in 2024 when Edwards and Towns were the leaders. Now that Ant has embraced the leadership role, he is leading them further.
The bonus is he is leading the Timberwolves to beat their primary rival from the 2024 Playoffs, Luka Doncic. Edwards has taken it upon himself to carry his team whenever they need him.
That is a sign of a good leader because he is stepping up every time. The rest of the team knows they can trust Ant to pull off the near-impossible plays because he has the talent and courage to make them.
The Timberwolves are heavy favorites now, but they should never be complacent against a Lakers team with Doncic and LeBron James. Edwards knows that, and he wants to keep pushing and leading Minnesota in another superb Playoff run.
