Another former Michigan State quarterback is reportedly heading back into the transfer portal.
Former Spartans quarterback Katin Houser will reportedly enter into the transfer portal, according to Stephen Igoe of 247Sports. Houser played the last two seasons at East Carolina and has one more year of eligibility remaining.
Houser started his career at Michigan State as a four-star prospect out of high school. He appears in 13 games for the Spartans during the 2022 and 2023 seasons before heading to East Carolina via the portal after Jonathan Smith was hired at Michigan State.
During his two years at East Carolina, Houser appeared in 21 games. He recorded 5,306 passing yards, 37 touchdown passes compared to 17 interceptions. This past year, he had an impressive touchdown to interception ratio of 19 touchdowns to six interceptions. He also recorded 351 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns during his two seasons with the Pirates, including nine touchdown runs this year.
Houser will surely earn some buzz among power four programs now that he is heading back to the transfer portal. It us unlikely he'll end up back at Michigan State, but I wouldn't be surprised if he landed at another Big Ten school and potentially setting up a fun matchup against the Spartans next year.
