The Wisconsin Badgers are expected to play an exhibition game against the UW-Green Bay Phoenix, Green Bay head coach Doug Gottlieb revealed on a radio appearance on Wednesday.
“The contract is not signed for the game,” Gottlieb said, via Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s John Steppe. “But verbal contracts are binding contracts, right?”
The game has been verbally agreed to, according to Gottlieb, and is expected to be played at the Resch Center on October 15th ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Wisconsin hasn’t played against Green Bay since 2022, when the Badgers beat the Phoenix 56-45. The two sides had been playing yearly up until the 2022 season, with Wisconsin winning the last 12 games in the series.
The Green Bay game is the latest scheduling leak for the Badgers season, as it had been reported last week that Wisconsin would host Campbell in the season opener on November 2nd by college basketball analyst Rocco Miller. Wisconsin has also had reported games revealed against Marquette (December 5th), Auburn (December 19th), and Villanova.
Green Bay is coming off an 18-15 season under Gottlieb, where they ended up as the third-best team in the Horizon League. Wisconsin, on the other hand, went 24-11 last season, which earned them the No. 5 seed in both the Big Ten Tournament and the NCAA Tournament.
