The Atlanta Dream looked like one of the best teams in the WNBA for most of the first half of the season. However, Atlanta lost some major momentum with a recent five-game losing streak. Monday’s 101-92 win over the Los Angeles Sparks improved Atlanta to 2-1 since that losing streak as the Dream looks to get things back on track.

Star forward Angel Reese was a large part of the win after being a game-time decision with a foot injury. Reese finished the game with 13 rebounds and 23 points, including a clutch go-ahead three-pointer with the game tied at 87. As great as she was in the game, some fans took exception with some language that Reese used in Atlanta’s dominant run to end the game.

After Reese’s three-pointer, USA cameras caught Reese sharing some pointed language with a fan sitting courtside.

The heart and soul of the Dream

Fans had contrasting takes on Reese using such pointed language, with some feeling that she had a duty to serve as a role model for young fans.

“Role model to young girls,” one fan posted on X.

“Way to be humble,” someone else added sarcastically.

Most fans, however, were appreciative of Reese’s passion.

“Lmaoooo I love Angel soooo bad!! Anyone can get it with her. She don’t pick and choose!” another fan added.

“I love when Angel talks sh*t, it turn her up so bad,” someone else wrote.

“Angel my favorite player but even i didn’t think the Dream would need her this much but f*ck, she literally the heart and soul of this f*cking team already,” one fan posted.

The Dream are almost certainly going to be in the playoffs, especially if she can keep playing as well as she did against the Sparks. The only question now if the basketball gods will give fans an entire series of her and the Dream against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever.
