The Atlanta Dream have drafted Madina Okot out of South Carolina with the 13th pick, and she will now join Angel Reese and company and add on to an already impressive roster that finished 30-14 last season.
Okot was a crucial part of the Gamecocks' run this season, averaging a double-double at 12.8 points and 10.6 rebounds to go along with 1.4 blocks and 1.3 steals. She did so shooting a very efficient 57.5% from the field on over nine shots per game, which was top-20 in the nation this season. She started her collegiate career at Mississippi State in 2024-25 where she averaged 11.3 points and 9.6 rebounds.
Now with Brittney Griner out of Atlanta and headed to the Connecticut Sun in free agency, Okot will step in and try fill the void.
Along with Reese, there will be a heavy veteran presence surrounding Okot in Brionna Jones, Allisha Gray, Jordin Canada, and Rhyne Howard. All of who helped lead the Dream to a top-5 offense last season, as well as the number one rebounding team in the league.
