Angel Reese isn’t happy about being left off the WNBA All-Star starter list alongside her Atlanta Dream teammates. The 24-year-old superstar has been in the midst of a standout season, averaging 14.8 points and 11.7 rebounds per game. The Dream are currently 12-8 and sit fifth in the league, just behind the 13-8 New York Liberty. In a new interview, Reese called Atlanta’s lack of starters “disrespectful” before sharing more of her thoughts on the snub.

Speaking with the media, Reese said she wasn’t shocked to learn she’d been left off the starter’s list for the upcoming WNBA All-Star game. “I expect to be disrespected,” she said.
However, it was the absence of her teammates, Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray, from the list that really had Reese in her feelings about the snub.
“For those two though, I think they work so hard and they put a lot of work in, and the way that they’re guarded every game and they [have to] adjust. The reason why we’re where we are is because of those two,” she said.
Reese didn’t stop there. She added, “For us not to have anyone was just a slap in the face, but they’re not going to say anything. I am.”

The WNBA released the All-Star starters list earlier this week. Right now, it features Paige Bueckers, Olivia Miles, Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell, A’ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart, Jessica Shepard, Aaliyah Boston, Gabby Williams, and Natasha Howard.
ESPN reported that All-Star starters are determined by a mix of fan, media, and player votes. Fan votes account for 50% of a player’s overall score; media and player votes each account for 25%.
“Congrats to the ones that were nominated, they were well-deserved,” Reese said. “But it’s a very big shocker to see that none of us were starters, especially where we are as a team in the league.”
Regardless of the outcome, Reese said she’s certain she and her teammates will still make the All-Star roster.
“I’m sure we’re still going to be All-Stars. I have no doubt in my mind that we still will be, but I think it is important to note that none of us were starters on a team that has had so much success this year,” she said.

Regarding the fan vote, Reese said she wishes Dream supporters rallied around her team. “I haven’t really said much this year in the media, because honestly it’s been tough for me over the last two years,” she said. “But I feel like it was important for me to speak for my teammates that don’t necessarily speak for themselves all the time.”
Reese went on to say that Gray and Howard were among the factors that influenced her to play for Atlanta. “I know that the team success is based off those two as well,” she said.

In May 2025, Reese spoke openly after her trade from the Chicago Sky to the Atlanta Dream, saying that playing for the Georgia-based team “has really been a breath of fresh air.”
In a separate interview, the LSU alum said playing for the Dream was unlike anything she’d experienced in the league before her trade.
“Being able to come to an organization that really cared about their players, just being able to see a GM that really wanted me and knew what my talents are,” she said. “It lowkey makes me emotional because I haven’t had this and I’m really grateful and I’m really looking forward to the start.”
