The Angel City Football Club released a statement Tuesday in response to the barrage of fireworks that shot into the crowd during a recent postgame celebration at BMO Stadium.

The Los Angeles-based National Women’s Soccer League team held a fireworks show following a match against the Orlando Pride on July 3. Video provided by attendees showed errant fireworks skipping into the stands as people ran for cover.

In Tuesday’s statement, the football club called the frightening incident a “fireworks malfunction,” and said the company that put on the fireworks show is investigating the problem.

“We understand this was a frightening moment for many in attendance,” Angel City FC posted on social media.

Although footage shows multiple fireworks rocketing into the crowd, the fireworks caused no known injuries, the team said.

“We regret that this incident occurred, as the safety and well-being of our fans, players, and staff remain our top priority.
