Davide Ancelotti is following in the footsteps of his famous father, Carlo Ancelotti, and has taken a first head coach job in Europe at Ligue 1 side Lille.
Ancelotti junior has signed a contract until 2028, the club said on Monday. Lille finished third in the French league and have qualified for the Champions League.
The appointment means it remains to be seen whether Davide will return into Carlo's Brazil team coaching staff as planned for the upcoming World Cup.
Davide Ancelotti, 36, left the Brazil staff last year to start his first head coach job at Brazilian club Botafogo in June. He however had to go in December.
He spent 13 years in his father's coaching staff at clubs including Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Napoli and Everton. He was also fitness coach during his father's term at Paris Saint-Germain.
Carlo Ancelotti is one of the most successful football coaches led by five Champions League titles with AC Milan and Real. He has won national titles in all five European top leagues of England, Spain, Germany, Italy and France. He took over the Brazil team last year.
