Yes, the window for the current core of this team has closed. Too bad too. That missing piece that has plagued the Cardinals, which is the quarterback position, it is a shame that instead of Kurt Warner a younger name could have been placed at that position. This team has been good enough to be a contender from 2008 till now with decent QB play. That being said, its not all bad, it was fun watching Warner, and Palmer have their resurgence.

As for the rest of this season, you can feel the free fall coming. At 4-5-1, really the next goal is try to not lose 10 or more games, and I think for this team, that is a challenge. If this team goes .500 the rest of the way, I will personally be impressed.

An older team with nothing to play for, going into the end of the season, playing teams with a lot to play for, is a recipe for disaster.

I know the Cardinals team say they have a good locker room, well, you know the real state of people and groups when things start going bad. Everyone is happy when you are winning, true character comes to the fore front when dealing with adversity.

We will see.

this much is clear (to me at least):

The Cardinals record isnt a function of QB, or even Head Coach

It is a function of-

an o-line that even when healthy was just "ok", and now when injured, is a disaster

a WR core that outside Larry Fitzgerald, has let the QB down again, and again, and again

examples: held or not, John Brown has to get off the press and at least knock that ball down. Mike Floyd has to keep running -- and its no worse than an incompletion and maybe even a big play ( behind the safety, inside the CB and Palmer put the ball where it needed to be). JJ Nelson suddenly cant catch -- a first down, and, a ball in the endzone that competent NFL WRs catch.

I think a lot of the issues with this team rest on BA. Not because of him specifically but because of the people he has chosen to hire. The problem with this team falls on the coordinators and of course special teams coaching. We are not the Patriots and BA is not Bill Belicheck. Hiring from within is OK only when you have good people. Goodwin is not a legit OC or offensive line coach (even though he does not call plays, it's still valid). BA also should have gone out and got a proven DC when Bowles left. No matter what the numbers say, The D just doesn't have the same game changing feel that it did under Bowles. BA ego has gotten in the way of hiring/firing and personnel. From the early season long snapper issue, starting Brandon Williams, ignoring special teams, etc...
Look what Seattle has done with Tom Cable and a patchwork O-line. They hired a proven O-line coach and has turned a weak spot into something manageable.

That "Press" can't still be happening 10 yards down the field though... that can't be on Brown when they've got 2 hands grabbing his body/jersey for 10 straight yards & the refs don't call it. I wouldn't be surprised if Palmer threw the ball his way just to force the refs to make the PI call... they didn't & it screwed us yet again.

You can throw it if Brown isn't being double covered. You cannot throw it into double coverage. There's really no excuse for it, particularly because 2 of their best 3 CBs are on Brown (Munnerlyn and Rhodes) which means their weaker CBs are on Fitz and Floyd. Waynes was having an awful game---keep throwing at him.

yes ...... and while it seems like nitpicking -- i still expect a better effort. At a minimum, a better effort probably draws the flag there.
