The Seattle Seahawks have the chance to keep star defensive tackle Leonard Williams in town for the long haul this offseason.
Williams is coming off of a career year in 2025 where he was named a second-team All-Pro honoree and helped the Seahawks win the Super Bowl at the end of the season. His year of excellence calls for a lucrative extension this offseason, which Seattle has the option to give him prior to waging a Super Bowl run again in 2026.
According to ESPN’s Aaron Schatz, the best final move for the Seahawks to make this offseason is extending Williams.
“The Seahawks need to be careful here, because Williams will be 32 this season and there might be a decline coming soon,” Schatz said. “However, he's still playing at a high level, with seven sacks last season.”
Age is certainly a reason for the Seahawks to exercise caution when it comes to Williams. Nevertheless, what he brings to Seattle defense in the interior is invaluable to the team, and with the speed and aggression that he still plays with, it’s reasonable to expect him to continue playing at a high level for more than just another season, which will give Seattle much out of a potential commitment to him.
