The America East Women’s Tournament is down to the final four (a chalk final four). Let’s take a look at the teams left ahead of the semifinals on Monday. UMBC and Binghamton survived off last-second shots, and Vermont and Maine took care of business in the quarterfinals.

Who is Left
Vermont (1)
Led by Nikola Priede — one of two AmEast women who are semifinalists for the women’s mid-major Player of the Year — the Catamounts soared to a 13-3 conference record and the regular-season championship. Priede is a super high-usage post player, but the guards run a very effective ball-screen attack around her. Head coach Alisa Kresge leads a stingy defense that ranks fourth nationally in points allowed per game (52) and in the top 20 in defensive rating (82). The Cats’ +23 net rating is nearly 10 points higher than the next best squad. If they flail in the conference tournament, they’re guaranteed a WBIT bid.
Maine (2)
Adrianna Smith — the other AmEast player in contention for the MMPOY award — has been a record-breaker at this level for the Black Bears. She led the conference in scoring (22 PPG), rebounding (10 RPG), and assists (5 APG). She dragged a Maine team that was just OK by the metrics (+2.5 net rating) to a 12-4 conference season. Regardless of what happens, Smith will be CPOY.
No student-athlete, male or female, in @AmericaEast history has EVER finished a career with 1,000+ points, 1,000+ rebounds, and 400+ assists ….
Until now.

Binghamton (3)
After starting the conference season 9-1, the Bearcats lost five of their final six regular-season games to sink to the third seed. They run everything through Bella Pucci in their isolation-heavy offense, but she’ll get plenty of off-ball actions as a 41% 3-point shooter. Forward Kendall Bennett averaged a double-double this season (14/10). They’re a dangerous offense, but they can struggle defending the rim and on the defensive glass. Binghamton made it to
UMBC (4)
Both Binghamton and UMBC finished the conference season with 10-6 records, but the Retrievers are a far more defensive-minded team, ranking top-50 nationally in defensive rating (83).
