EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — On Saturday night, at the El Paso County Coliseum, El Paso’s Stephanie Han will step into the ring with combat sports legend Holly Holm in the main event of MVPW-03.
Han vs. Holm 2 is set to headline Saturday night — a rematch that doesn’t need much introduction.
But beyond the main event, there’s another fight on the card generating serious buzz — the co-main event. That’s because one of the biggest names in women’s boxing will also step into the ring.
Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano is set to compete on the El Paso card, bringing major star power to the Sun City. Serrano is 48-4-1 and currently holds the WBO and WBA world featherweight titles, making her one of the most high-profile fighters ever to compete in El Paso.
She enters fight week following her win over Reina Tellez back in January in Puerto Rico.
Fans may also remember that same event featured the first fight between Han and Holm.
Now that connection comes full circle — Serrano will compete on Han’s card in El Paso after Han fought on hers in Puerto Rico.
““Listen, it was a no-brainer when I found out Stephanie Han was having the rematch with Holly in El Paso,” Amanda Serrano said in an interview with KTSM on Tuesday. “They came and they opened up for me. They were my co-main event in Puerto Rico, in my hometown, so it was such an honor to have them share that night with me.”
“So, I was like, what? They come back rematch El Paso, I have to be on that card. Please let me in. And they did it. I have an amazing team on my side that’s going to put me in.” Serrano said.
A class act, Serrano has been in El Paso since last Tuesday and says she has enjoyed her time in the city.
She will return to action Saturday night, putting her world titles on the line against Cheyenne Hanson in the co-main event of MVPW-03.
