Apr. 1—MITCHELL — Dakota Wesleyan University sophomore golfer Allison Meyerink has been named the Great Plains Athletic Conference women's golfer of the week for the fourth time this season, the league office announced on Wednesday.

It's the sixth career GPAC weekly honor for Meyerink, who won the GPAC tournament individual title last spring in her first collegiate season.

Meyerink, a native of Mitchell and the reigning GPAC golfer of the year, won her fourth meet of the season individually at the Bethel Spring Invitational in Newton, Kansas. Meyerink finished five strokes ahead of the next-best golfer, recording a score of 5-over-par 77 in the first round and a subsequent 81 on the second day to put her final mark at 158 through 36 holes of golf. As a team, the Tigers posted a sixth-place finish in the Bethel Invite with a score of 756.

Meyerink also saw some success at Lake Las Vegas in Henderson, Nevada, as Rocky Mountain College hosted eight teams in the intercollegiate event March 3-4 at Reflection Bay Golf Club. Through three 18-hole rounds of golf, Meyerink was the top scorer for an 14th-place individual finish. Meyerink totaled five birdies and an eagle on the sixth hole of round two throughout the two-day competition and ended with a total score of 248 (+32).

In 18 rounds this season, Meyerink has a scoring average of 76.94 strokes, and she has six top-five finishes in eight tournaments this season. Meyerink has won seven tournaments on an individual basis in her career.

The Tigers are back in action on April 6-7 for the Augie Spring Invitational at Elmwood Golf Course in Sioux Falls. DWU's Spring Invitational is set for April 12-13 at Lakeview Golf Course in Mitchell.
