Oct. 15—SIOUX CITY, Iowa. — Dakota Wesleyan University women's golf standout Allison Meyerink earned her third player of the week award of the season on Wednesday, capping a strong fall schedule for the Tigers.

Meyerink, a sophomore from Mitchell, won the award on the strength of a first-place individual finish at the Mustang Derby tournament on Oct. 6-7 at Whispering Creek Golf Club in Sioux City, Iowa, with a two-day score of 150, including a final round even-par 72 to win the 45-player event. It was Meyerink's third event victory of the fall season, while DWU finished second as a team in the event.

In 13 fall rounds, Meyerink had a scoring average of 75.31, with two low rounds of 68. In six tournaments, she had five top-five finishes.

More recently, Meyerink finished in fourth place in a field of 48 golfers at The Statemen tournament on Oct. 13-14 at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois. Meyerink shot 80-84 for a two-day score of 164, which was good for a 20-over-par finish, finishing 10 shots behind eventual champion Amalia Ortega, of Clarke (Iowa) University.

As a team, DWU was fourth with 694 strokes, finishing 18 shots behind tournament champion Bellevue (Neb.), which shot 676.

The DWU women's golf team will resume its season in the spring.
