Six of the seven teams in the AFC playoff picture were set heading into Week 18 including the Buffalo Bills clinching a Wild Card spot, but the order of those teams was still very much in doubt. Buffalo moved up with their Week 18 win after all was said and done.
With the Bills’ win, there were a few different options depending on the outcomes of the Los Angeles Chargers and Houston Texans games. The Texans won, which locked them into the five seed.
The Chargers lost to the Denver Broncos, so the Bills will be the six seed and head to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Chargers fall to the seventh.
The Pittsburgh Steelers miraculously won on Sunday night in one of the most exciting games of the season.
AFC East standings
The New England Patriots have already clinched the AFC East title. All four slots are locked in with only final record to update. The biggest question today is what’s going to happen after the game in Miami with their head coach Mike McDaniel. The Dolphins have already fired their general manager.
1. New England Patriots (14-3)
2. Buffalo Bills (12-5)
3. Miami Dolphins (7-10)
4. New York Jets (3-14)
