Bloomington South's seniors went out on a high note at the IHSAA boys golf state tournament at Prairie View Golf Course in Carmel on Wednesday, June 17.
Colton Watson, coming off a 1-under 71, fired a 75 to find a spot in the top 10, and Carson Gady had a career-best round at state of 73, as the Panthers settled for a tie for 11th after a second-round 314, four shots better than Round 1.
Watson earned All-State honors after tying for ninth at 146, joining Happy Gilmore (144, tied for seventh in 2023 and 150, tied for eighth in 2021) and Joe Weiler (145, ninth in 2016) as the only top-10 Panthers since Kyle Perry (139) was third in 2007.

Watson was even through the first 11 holes before being bitten by three bogeys down the stretch. He finished just four strokes off the top spot. Watson, who shot 157s the past two years at state, was 45th last year, 39th as a sophomore and 75th as a freshman at state.
"Colton, that was pretty special," South coach Dustin Carver said. "I've had several who have made the All-State Team, and he's come a long way. Just his overall demeanor, been there, done that. He didn't look nervous at all today.
"He kept in play and did what he had to do. He started with a bogey then chipped in on 11 to get it back. I'm not quite sure how many greens he hit today, but he just kept it in play. It was just fun to see. He was just steady."
Gady had nine birdies, which tied for second behind the 10 by Guerin Catholic's Eli Wessell. He started with a double but was just 3-over after his first nine (holes 10-18) then had four birdies on his next even holes.
"He was taking it pretty low there for a while, which was cool to see," Carver said. "He was close to shooting 29 on that side if he'd had a couple more inches for birdies."
Both seniors will be teammates next year at DePauw while juniors Karl Bailey, Owen Wisley and Easton Bellini will be back.
Bailey (83-82—165) tied for 87th, while Wisley shot 85-84—169, tied for 96th, and Bellini had an 85-88—173, for 102nd. Bailey, in his first year with a high school team, chipped in for eagle on No. 2 as part of a 37 finish.
"For those three to come up to state and compete for a state title with their teammates is pretty special," Carver said. "It's something they'll remember for their whole lives. We'll look for those three to be our leaders next year."
South was one of 10 teams to improve on its score from Round 1. None did more than Brownsburg, which shaved 27 shots to a 300, moving up from a tie for 15th to eighth (627). Trinity Academy of Greenlawn dropped to a 309 and 10th at 630. South and Franklin tied for 11th at 632.
South, which finished up before the rain hit, played five holes under par as a team, tied for the second-most in the field.
