Of course every game we are going to focus on the progression of Kyler. We’ve covered his game quite a bit in other threads. But there was so much more.
Defense. This much maligned group, and deservedly so at times, played their best game of the year. Holding any team to 3 points into the 4th quarter deserves credit for a job well done. The goal line stand was the turning point of the game. Then at the start of the 2nd half after a 3 and out they got the turnover. A very solid performance.
Special Teams. Prater AGAIN! Good coverage, no dumb penalties and a couple of real good punts.
Coaching. Speaking of punts was anybody surprised when Gannon sent out the punt team in the 4th quarter. WHY? We have Prater! Great call. Gannon played field position and put it back on the defense rather trying another long Fg or going for the first down. Bottom line this staff had this team ready. They had a good plan and the team responded.
Come the end of the season this win will be a distant memory. But today, man it’s fun to win a game.
