Just two days into Fox's coverage of the 2026 World Cup, the network's longtime soccer analyst Alexi Lalas has already made waves with his on-air comments about James Corden.

Lalas was asked about Corden as part of an in-program promotion for the comedian's show, "After Hours with James Corden." The 56-year-old gave out a profane response that shocked his crewmates.

"What do you guys call him? A full-kit w-----, right?" Lalas said of Corden. "He's all dressed up and ready to go."

Lalas' fellow analysts were unable to hide their surprise to his reaction – especially Thierry Henry, who gave a flabbergasted stare to the camera in its immediate aftermath.

"Did he just say that?" Henry said in disbelief.

Meanwhile, host Rebecca Lowe cracked a joke as she tried to pivot away from what Lalas had said.

"Lucky we're on American television," Rebecca Lowe said, before explaining saying the "W-word" on British television would be a big no-no.

Lalas isn't likely to face as much scrutiny in the United States for uttering the British expletive on live television. Still, some mistook the "full-kit" part of his comment for a similar-sounding expletive.

That could result in some complaints to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which prohibits broadcasts that are "obscene, indecent and profane" between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m., according to the government agency's website.

But in all likelihood, Lalas and Fox will skirt any punishment – unless the FCC deems what the analyst said constitutes "'grossly offensive' language that is considered a public nuisance."
