AJ Epenesa looked like he was on his way from the Buffalo Bills to the Cleveland Browns in free agency.
According to reports, the 27-year-old had reportedly inked a one-year deal worth up to $5 million.
Then came follow-up reports, including ESPN, which indicated that Epenesa will not be heading to Cleveland. Instead, the Browns declined to sign him after his physical:
Epenesa was Buffalo's top selection in Round 2 of the 2020 NFL draft. While having high expectations because of that, the 27-year-old never fully lived up to them with the Bills. Epenesa did ink an extension in Buffalo, but he never surpassed 6.5 sacks in a single season for the Bills.
It remains to be seen if Epenesa's free agent fortunes change in the coming weeks, either in Cleveland or elsewhere.
Bills Wire will continue to provide updates throughout the 2026 offseason.

The Browns won’t be signing DE A.J. Epenesa as was initially reported, per source. Team wasn’t comfortable finalizing the deal after his physical.
