KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) — After upsetting the second seed late last night in the AAC softball tournament, Milligan moved within two wins of the championship game. Once the field dried, the Lady Buffs were prepared to take on the Bears.
In the top of the first, Elizabethton native and former Unaka Lady Ranger Alana Parsons hit the ball sky high. The Bears attempted to get under it, but the ball bounced out of the fielder’s glove. While Parsons reached third base on the play, she was ultimately left stranded.
Moving to the bottom of the inning, the Bears began to overwhelm the Buffs. Rylee Walker hit a shot all the way to the right field fence, allowing Cassie Boatright to slide into home and put them on the board with a one-to-zero lead. Shortly after, Morgan Kacalek hit a ball just past second base, which allowed Walker to walk home from third. The Bears ended the inning leading three to nothing.
Truett McConnell went on to win the game eight to nothing in five innings. The Lady Buffs are scheduled to face Reinhardt again on Thursday at 1 pm in the losers’ bracket.
