While we might be seeing trade rumors regarding the next home of Milwaukee Bucks star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo start to heat up, when it comes to the Boston Celtics as a potential home for the Greek Freak, an Aegean sea worth of cold water is being thrown on any such outcome by many of the NBA's most connected journalists. "I’ve been told rather reliably that the Celtics have not been actively pursuing Giannis Antetokounmpo at this juncture," said Bleacher Report contributor Jake Fischer in a recent video.

"I can’t rule out that we can get to that down the line, but I want to be very, very clear. I’ve been given no word that Boston and Milwaukee are in active conversations," he added. Similarly, one of the voices hinting that Boston might not be out of the hunt for the Bucks star, the New York Times' Sam Amick, now reports that the Celtics have no discernible appetite for dealing away star forward Jaylen Brown, the only ostensibly realistic outgoing option for Boston in any such trades.

"There's no sign that they're putting Jaylen out there at all. In fact, they've gone to great lengths after he made those comments after the season to make sure that they were good with him," said the senior New York Times reporter in a recent interview with CLNS Media. "All the messaging from the organization and from Jaylen's camp was that there's nothing to see here, just media talk."

There were of course some logical reasons for believing that Boston might be a preferable landing spot for Antetokounmpo, which Amick explained, that, "from Giannis's point of view, doesn't mean he's not excited potentially about Miami."

"But there are signs that he's looking at what that roster in Miami might look like after a trade and hypothetically comparing it to what a roster might look like in Boston after a trade." If so, he has yet to flex his considerable influence given his status as a player on an expiring deal. But at least for now, it seems the Giannis-to-BOS rumbles should quiet down for a bit.
