The Memphis Grizzlies and Oklahoma City Thunder got their Summer League slates underway on Saturday with a matchup against one another, and the Grizzlies dominated en route to a 111-74 victory.

The game featured lots of rookie talent, including No. 3 overall pick Cameron Boozer for Memphis and No. 12 overall pick Aday Mara for Oklahoma City.

After the game, Mara had nothing but good things to say about Boozer, a player he faced during the 2025-26 college basketball season.

As Mara mentioned, Boozer wasted no time getting to work at the start of the game, finishing a dunk that Mara attempted to defend.

It was the start of a strong overall game for the new Grizzlies cornerstone. He finished with 15 points, four rebounds and four assists in 24 minutes of action, shooting 7-for-11 from the field and 1-for-3 from beyond the arc.

Mara certainly made an impact himself on the other side, even though it came in a losing effort. He finished with 10 points, three rebounds, four assists and three "stocks" while shooting 5-for-8 from the floor.

Both players hope to have successful careers ahead of them after impressing at the collegiate level and landing in the lottery.

Boozer, who played his way into being picked No. 3 overall after a huge season at Duke, took home AP Player of the Year honors nationally with the Blue Devils. He averaged 22.5 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game and left no doubt that he was ready to be drafted after one season in college.

Mara, meanwhile, had a couple of somewhat quiet seasons at UCLA before transferring to Michigan and completely transforming his stock as player. In his lone season at Michigan, he averaged 12.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.6 blocks per game and helped the Wolverines win a national title.

Boozer will have some work to do with the Grizzlies in order to get the team back into contention, as Memphis has missed the playoffs in two of the last three seasons. He will have to play a big role in the squad's rebuild in the coming years.

Mara, however, has the luxury of joining a franchise that is already in title contention. The Thunder, who won the 2025 NBA Finals, are ready to compete for more rings right now, and Mara may be able to slide into the rotation as a rookie, especially since he comes into the league after gaining multiple years of high-level experience in college.
