NFL fans and fans of Colorado's Shedeur Sanders were undoubtedly prepared for the QB to fall in the draft to some degree, but no one saw this coming.
The first two days and the initial three rounds of the 2025 draft have come and gone, but Sanders' name remains prominently on the board.
Five quarterbacks have been selected across the first 102 picks: Cam Ward (Tennessee Titans, No. 1), Jaxson Dart (New York Giants, No. 25), Tyler Shough (New Orleans Saints, No. 40), Jalen Milroe (Seattle Seahawks, No. 92) and Dillon Gabriel (Cleveland Browns, No. 94).
ESPN's Adam Schefter described Sanders' draft slide as "unprecedented" following the conclusion of Round 3 on Saturday, April 25. He also offered a couple of reasons why Sanders has fallen victim to this fate, based on sources around the league.

"We're hearing Shedeur didn't interview well," Schefter said on the live broadcast. "We're hearing teams had different preferences."
Despite that, Schefter and colleague Mel Kiper Jr., the latter of whom rated Sanders as the top QB in the 2025 class, expressed extreme shock that not a single franchise made a bet on the Colorado star ahead of the draft's final day.
As for his part, Sanders took to X with a brief and positive message.
"Thank you GOD for EVERYTHING," Sanders wrote.
Near the end of the live Day 2 coverage on ESPN, Kiper predicted that Sanders will ultimately be a fourth-round selection.
However, he didn't mention the specific team that he believes will select Sanders -- whenever that time comes. The Browns, Giants and Saints were all floated as potential landing spots for the QB, though all have drafted one already.
The Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Rams are two other franchises that experts expect might take a quarterback at some point and could be Sanders' best bets heading into Day 3.
