ROFF — Ada senior Keith Cook drove an 0-2 pitch over the fence in left field with two outs in the bottom of the fourth inning for a solo home run. It was his fifth long ball of the spring.
Unfortunately, that was the only highlight of the game for the Cougars, who were buried by Class 3A powerhouse Silo 17-1 Friday evening in the semifinals of the 2025 Roff Spring Baseball Tournament.
The Cougars dipped to 21-5 on the year with a pair of District 4A-1 showdown with Blanchard looming. Ada hosted the Lions Monday and will travel to Blanchard tonight. Blanchard entered the week at 26-1 and is riding an 18-game winning streak.
Coach Shane Coker’s bunch then travels to North Rock Creek Friday and hosts local foe Latta at 1 p.m. Saturday.
In another Roff Tournament contest Friday, the host Roff Tigers bounced Allen 9-1 in consolation play. The Tigers, ranked No. 9 in Class B, improved to 10-12, while Allen — No. 15 in Class A-1 — fell to an even 9-9.
Silo 17, Ada 1
The Rebels got off to a quick start, scoring six times in the top of the first inning. Silo put the game well out of reach with a seven-run burst in the top of the fourth frame.
Cook’s solo shot in the bottom of the fourth inning was Ada’s first and only hit of the contest.
Silo got home runs from Aiden McCarty, Sam Mendenhall and Jaret House. Two of those big hits came in the top of the fourth inning. McCarty hit a three-run homer to get the Rebels started and House capped the SHS onslaught with a two-run shot.
Mendenhall ripped a grand slam in the top of the first inning for the winners.
Silo piled up 15 total hits, including a 2-for-4 outing by Landon Langley that included a double, three RBIs and two runs scored. Braden Hill went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored and Jory Allen finished 1-for-1 with an RBI, a double and a run scored.
Cord Standridge had a pair of hits and scored twice for the Rebels.
Mendenhall recorded the pitching win for Silo. He struck out five and didn’t walk a batter in four strong innings.
Roff 9, Allen 1
The Tigers pushed across five runs in the bottom of the third inning to break open a tight game and build an 8-1 lead.
Noah Bray knocked in Allen’s lone run in the top of the third with a two-out single that got the Mustangs within 3-1.
Roff began the bottom of the third fame with consecutive solo home runs by Lane McCarter, Gavin Wilson and Maddux McCullar that pushed the RHS advantage to 6-1.
Roff collected seven hits in the game. McCullar went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. He hit his second solo homer with one out in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Oliver Gregory finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored from the top of the RHS batting order.
The Mustangs finished with five total hits, including a double by Gauge Lockhart. Briar Heck, Bodee Garrett and Landon Tenequer had the other Allen hits. Mason Carter was hit by a pitch and had two stolen bases for Allen.
Mason Dansby was the winning pitcher for Roff. he struck out three, walked one and allowed one earned run in four innings. McCarter struck out one and allowed one hit in a scoreless inning of relief.
Lockhart struck out two and walked four on three innings for the Mustangs.
