The Philadelphia 76ers battled their way through 82 games to earn their place in the postseason. They will have to fight their way in through the play-in tournament, but they have a good opportunity to do so as the No. 7 seed on Wednesday night when they host the No. 8 seed Orlando Magic.

As a reminder for how the play-in works, if the Sixers win, they will move on as the No. 7 seed to face the Boston Celtics in Round 1 starting on Sunday. If they lose to the Magic, they will then have to play in another play-in game. Philadelphia would host the winner of the 9 vs. 10 game and the winner of that game would then be the No. 8 seed to face the Detroit Pistons in Round 1.

For the Sixers and the Magic, here's a look back at what happened between these two teams in the regular season:

Oct. 27, 2025: Sixers: 136 Magic: 124

Without Joel Embiid and Paul George, the Sixers leaned heavily on Tyrese Maxey to lead the way. The 2-time All-Star had 43 points on 15-for-32 shooting with eight assists while VJ Edgecombe had 26 points and Kelly Oubre Jr. had 25 points in support. Orlando's Paolo Banchero had 32 points, but the Sixers held the Magic to 8-for-25 shooting from beyond the arc.

Nov. 25, 2025: Magic: 144 Sixers: 103

Orlando had a rare night of shooting the ball well from deep as it knocked down 13 3-pointers on 34 attempts. Anthony Black hopped off the bench and had 31 points while shooting 4-for-6 from deep while Franz Wagner had 21. The Sixers, once again without Embiid and George as well as Oubre and Edgecombe, had a tough time creating any offense as Maxey was limited to 20 points in this contest.

Jan. 9, 2026: Sixers: 103 Magic: 91

A truly ugly game by 2026 standards, the Sixers shot just 4-for-28 from deep while the Magic shot just 4-for-29 as neither team could find any type of rhythm. In the end, the Sixers relied on their star power. Maxey had 29 points, Embiid had 22 points and nine rebounds, and George had 18 and nine rebounds. Philadelphia held Banchero to just 6-for-18 shooting in this contest as it found a way to corral Orlando's star.
