The Browns and free agent defensive end A.J. Epenesa thought they had a deal done back in March.

However, a week later the deal was terminated by the Browns due to concerns about his physical, sources told the Beacon Journal.

The 27-year-old lineman eventually signed with the Philadelphia Eagles. He was asked about what happened at Eagles training camp by Philadelphia reporters on Aug. 4.

"Cleveland, you know, it was a weird situation, but I don't necessarily want to go back and talk on that in just a weird sense," Epenesa said. "I'll just leave that in the past, and just be happy that I'm not a Brown, and that I am an Eagle."

Epenesa has played in 91 career regular-season games and 14 more playoff games with the Buffalo Bills. He had 19 regular-season starts and three playoff starts. Buffalo selected him in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

He's had a "strong" training camp for the Eagles and is expected to make the 53-man roster, according to beat writer Martin Frank.
