Last week, former NFL agent (and current CBS Sports analyst) Joel Corry published a list of 15 players who could be traded or released during the NFL offseason.
One of the notable names on the list is Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown, a Super Bowl champion, three-time Pro Bowler and three-time second-team All-Pro. If the Eagles end up trading Brown with a post-June 1 designation, the team would save $1.65 million in salary cap space with a $5.49 million cap credit in 2027.
While that would not provide Philly with much cap relief, it also wouldn't cause insurmountable damage to their cap, and the team could acquire extra draft picks in a trade. One potential team that could be a fit for Brown — and other big-name receivers — is the Denver Broncos.
Last year, Denver pursued Stefon Diggs during NFL free agency, but they weren't able to get a deal done. During the 2025 NFL draft, Ohio State's Emeka Egbuka likely would have been a top candidate for the Broncos at pick No. 20, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers took the receiver one spot before them at pick No. 19. Then, during the season, Denver reached out to the Miami Dolphins about Jaylen Waddle ahead of the NFL trade deadline.
The Broncos were ultimately unable to land a star receiver in 2025, but it wouldn't be shocking to see the team try again in 2026. Denver has enough salary cap space and draft capital to make a splash this offseason.
Brown, 28, totaled 78 receptions for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns in a run-heavy offense last season. Despite missing two games, Brown would have led the Broncos in receptions and tied for the team lead in touchdowns with those totals in Denver. His receiving yards were just 14 short of Courtland Sutton, who played all 17 games.
Broncos coach Sean Payton has emphasized the importance of correcting the team's drops, and Brown could help in that area. Brown came into the league one year after Sutton and he has played 10 fewer games, but it's still notable that he has 20 fewer career drops (28) than Sutton (48). Brown has one drop over the last two seasons while Sutton has 17. Brown has averaged 0.266 drops per game in his career, compared to 0.417 drops per game for Sutton.
Denver could provide a spark to the offense by giving third-quarterback Bo Nix an explosive receiver, and Brown could be a name to watch this spring.
