Kellen Moore found success with Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert. Fox Sports' Jordan Schultz reported the Eagles are open to trading Goedert, with some teams believing the Eagles would accept future picks in return for the tight end. This sets up the possibility of the move being made during or after the draft.
That's the timeline in which the New Orleans Saints should make the move – if Moore wants Goedert to join him in New Orleans. That's the difference between a trade for Goedert versus reuniting Jalen Ramsey with Brandon Staley.
Trading a fourth-round pick to acquire Ramsey could be made ahead of the draft. The Saints have a need at cornerback, and there shouldn't be any hesitancy around handing over a mid-round selection to get Ramsey in return.
If the Saints want Goedert, they should wait to see how the draft plays out before going after the Eagles tight end. Tyler Warren could still be on the board for the Saints in the first round. Mason Taylor could be available at 40th overall.
The value at tight end early in the draft is good and should be explored. Sending capital away for Goedert makes more sense if you've already seen how the board plays out.
Goedert will also be in search of a new contract, and that burden would fall on New Orleans. He and Moore found enough success together in Philadelphia to entertain the idea of a reunion, but getting a younger player in the draft on a rookie contract should be the priority.
