The Mets won today, so the Dbacks are 2 back with 9 to play

Remaining Schedules:

Arizona
3 vs Philly
3 @ LA
3 @ SD

The Phillies are two back of the #1 seed, so they are still playing hard
2.5 games separate LA and SD for West Division. If SD can't catch LA, they are locked into the #5 seed

New York Mets
3 vs Washington
3 @ Chicago
3 @ Florida

2 teams playing out the string, and Cubs pretty much locked into the #4 wild card spot

Cincinnati Reds (2.5 back)
4 vs Cubs
3 vs Pirates
3 @ Brewers

Brewers trying to hold onto #1 seed, may be settled by then

San Francisco Giants (2.5 back)
4 @ Dodgers
3 vs Cardinals
3 vs Rockies

They blew it all season (saves). 28 blown saves. Just 4 of those and we’d be right there. They all count or none count.
But to answer your question,
Mathematically, YES
Realistically, NO.

Sadly I think they blew it yesterday.
I think those 3 straight losses to the worst team in MLB put an end to any playoff chances. We still aren't mathematically eliminated even now but we're not really in the race, haven't been since August 17th IMO.

28 blown saves. That is our demise.

Sure, losing so many pitchers early AND losing Gabe for much of the season doomed us. But we've played very well since the trade deadline minus that 3 game collapse against a really bad team. If we still had those 3 games on our schedule we'd be feeling pretty hopeful about our playoff chances right now.

Yeah I've got my fingers crossed and I'm hoping for a miracle but that's about what it would take to get us into the playoffs.
Yeah, it would take a total collapse by the Mets, Reds, and Giants to get in. Plus we have a really hard schedule coming up.

Going to be a tough road to get in. They've had so many really tough losses this year and Wednesday's was just the latest. This weekend will probably tell the tale and with most of the Phillies roster still leftover from the 2023 NLCS matchup-they would probably love nothing more I'm sure than to officially knock the Dbacks out.
