We continue the countdown to the start of the Arizona Cardinals' regular season. Today, Sunday, June 21, is 84 days away from the Arizona Cardinals' regular-season opener on Sept. 13 on the road against the Los Angeles Chargers.

With 84 days until Week 1, let's look back at the 1984 season for the Cardinals.

A look back at the 1984 season for the Cardinals

The 1984 season was good! It was the Cardinals' last winning season in St. Louis, although they did not make it to the postseason. They went 9-7 with a top-10 offense and defense, in terms of yards gained and yards allowed.

They scored 26.4 points per game and allowed 21.6.

Their final four losses were one-score defeats.

Quarterback Neil Lomax, receiver Roy Green and linebacker E.J. Junior were all Pro Bowlers, and Green was a first-team All-Pro, and so was Junior.

1984 offensive leaders

Lomax completed 61.6% of his passes for 4,614 yards, setting the franchise single-season record for passing yards until Carson Palmer broke it in 2015, 28 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. He led three fourth-quarter comebacks and four game-winning drives.

Ottis Anderson led in rushing with 1,174 yards.

Green led the NFL with 1,555 receiving yards on 78 receptions for 12 touchdowns. Anderson added 70 catches for 611 yards for a total of 1,785 yards from scrimmage.

1984 defensive leaders

Junior had 9.5 sacks and an interception. Curtis Greer led the team with 14 sacks. Cornerback Lionel Washington led the team with five interceptions, but safety Benny Perrin and cornerback Wayne Smith each picked off four.
