We’re nearing that point in the sports calendar where there’s not a lot going on. With all due respect to baseball fans, it’s just not enough. The 2026 World Cup is exciting, but with that wrapping up soon, we will then head back to the preseason speculation as we wait for the college football season to kick off.

If you’ve got to start scratching the college football itch early, here are eight games to consider rewatching.

2024 Rose Bowl (Michigan 27, Alabama 20)

This was an instant classic. Michigan needed to beat the Crimson Tide for a chance to play in the National Championship. The game went into overtime after a season riddled with “scandal,” but the Wolverines came out on top.

2024 CFP National Championship (Michigan 34, Washington 14)

The perfect ending to a perfect season — Michigan finally won it all. The end of the Jim Harbaugh era ended with the team pulling down the banner. The Wolverines would end up having quite a few players drafted into the NFL. Some of those players are already Super Bowl champions, too.

2021 Edition of The Game (Michigan 42, Ohio State 27)

Finally, the Wolverines’ prodigal son was able to take down the Buckeyes. In 2021, Michigan took care of Ohio State and won in the trenches. Propelled by a phenomenal run game and the pass rushing talents of Aidan Hutchinson and David Ojabo, the Wolverines won The Game for the first time since 2011.

2022 Edition of “The Game” (Michigan 45, Ohio State 23)

What could be better than beating the Buckeyes once? Beating them twice, with this one being at their own place. “The Don” was born in this game, as Donovan Edwards shredded the Ohio State defense for not one, but two long touchdown runs to help the Wolverines win at The Horseshoe for the first time since 2000.

The Battle for Paul Bunyan 2023 (Michigan 49, Michigan State 0)

This one is just fun. If you’re looking for a situation where the Wolverines looked composed and collected and dominated the entire game, this is the one to watch. Allegations against Connor Stallions surfaced ahead of this game, but the Wolverines didn’t struggle against the Spartans whatsoever.

2011 Michigan v Notre Dame (Michigan 35, Notre Dame 31)

This one’s a little personal since I was at this game as a student. I’m not one to gloat every day, but I did turn to someone when Notre Dame scored with 30 seconds left and say, “Notre Dame scored too quickly. We’ve got plenty of time to win this.” I’ve given up hope in games before, but this one I held out until the very end.

2010 Michigan v Illinois (Michigan 67, Illinois 65)

It’s the offseason, so why not get carried away with a game that featured all offense and no defense? This one was frustrating to witness, but also a thrill to win.

2004 Battle for Paul Bunyan (Michigan 45, Michigan State 37)

Another classic rivalry game! The Wolverines scored 17 points in the fourth quarter to force overtime. Michigan scored 18 points in the overtime period to come out on top. Mike Hart compiled 224 yards and a touchdown on a whopping 33 (!) carries, while Braylon Edwards put up 11 catches for 189 yards and three touchdowns.
