It's safe to say no one in the NBA expected Jaylen Brown to be traded to Philadelphia.
On Wednesday, ESPN's Shams Charania broke the stunning news that the Boston Celtics are trading Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers. In the trade, the Sixers sent Paul George, two first-round picks, a 2028 second and 2030 second-round pick to the Celtics in exchange for Brown. The move surprised many around the NBA, as despite all the trade talk involving Brown, the Sixers didn't even seem like a remote possibility due to the long-standing rivalry between the two clubs.
Instead, the Sixers make a huge splash by acquiring Brown from their biggest rival to join Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey in this new era of Philadelphia basketball. As expected from a trade of this magnitude, however, NBA fans truly could not believe their eyes as the details of this deal went down.
