76ers believed to want to get off Joel Embiid’s contract, per latest report originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

The Philadelphia 76ers have seemingly gone all in around Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, a decision I genuinely like. I completely understand that there are injury questions that Embiid has to answer, and I continue to question whether he's actually going to do so.

However, I think it would be crazy for anybody to say that when he's on the court and healthy, he isn't one of the best five to 10 players in the NBA. In fact, even putting Embiid around that 10 mark feels a bit disrespectful because of what we've seen him do throughout his career.

However, there now seems to be a belief that Embiid could be traded, with two hosts in Philadelphia recently suggesting that if the team could get out of this contract, it would do so.

“I think it’s going to be tough to move him, but I think those conversations are absolutely happening,” said Sean Brace, H/T Complex. “ I feel like [Mike] Gansey and Bob Myers, I think they looked at this opportunity and said ‘if we can get out of these contracts, we do it. If that happens and you don’t get much in return for Joel Embiid, so be it. I think they’re looking for fresh, it’s a new sheriff in town. I do think they’re actively moving Joel Embiid.”

Among other stars in the NBA, I don't really think there is a great chance of landing a player who will make a similar impact to Embiid when healthy. I guess there's a scenario in which the 76ers could try to replace him by just landing a few players who are healthy, but I really don't think that's the right plan at all here.
