As the college basketball season turned from on-court play to recruiting, some intriguing prospects announced their decisions.
While much of the attention shines on top transfer portal prospects and five-star recruits coming out of high school, a recent International prospect made his final call.
According to NBA Draft expert Jonathan Givony, German 7-footer Johann Grunloh has committed to play for Ryan Odom and the Virginia Cavaliers.
Givony explained that the 7-foot prospect is a projected second pick in the upcoming NBA Draft. While he's received interest from the professional level, Grunloh made the decision to continue his career in the ACC.
Givony followed his official announcement on Grunloh's commitment to Virginia with a scouting report about what he views as one of the top international prospects pursuing college basketball.
"Johann Grunloh ranks as the 2nd-best shot-blocker in the German BBL, while hitting 32 3s in 28 games, an intriguing combination for a 19-year-old who also brings outstanding energy running the floor, crashing the glass, and switching on the perimeter with intensity and timing," Givony said.

Grunloh will now be playing for first-year head coach Ryan Odom.
Odom took over the head coaching duties in the offseason. Before accepting the role as head coach of the Virginia Cavaliers, Odom served as the head coach at VCU from 2023 to 2025.
He also previously held head coaching jobs at Utah State, UMBC and Lenoir-Rhyne after several assistant coaching gigs.
