Josh Edwards of CBS Sports put together a seven-round mock draft recently. Rather than going pick-by-pick through each of the Indianapolis Colts' selections, let's zoom out and provide the good and the bad from this draft haul as a whole.

Unfortunately, we found a lot more bad than good. Below are the picks made by the Colts in Edwards' mock.

  • Round 2, pick 47: Anthony Hill Jr., LB, Texas
  • Round 3, pick 78: Caleb Tiernan, OT, Northwestern
  • Round 4, pick 113: LT Overton, EDGE, Alabama
  • Round 5, pick 156: Tyler Onyedim, DL, Texas A&M
  • Round 6, pick 214: Joey Aguilar, QB, Tennessee
  • Round 7, pick 249: Jakobe Thomas, S, Miami (Fla.)
  • Round 7, pick 254: Brandon Cleveland, DL, NC State

The good from the latest Colts' mock draft

- Landing Anthony Hill Jr. at pick No. 47 would feel like a major win. Linebacker remains a major roster hole for the Colts, and Hill could step in from Day 1 into a starting role, providing a do-it-all presence at the position.

- More edge rusher help. Despite the additions in free agency, edge rusher remains a big need for the Colts. Getting help somewhat early on in the draft will provide added competition for snaps, which hopefully helps elevate the play of this unit. That said, finding that high-impact presence to pair with Laiatu Latu while not having a first-round pick won't be easy.

The bad from the latest Colts' mock draft

- A top 100 pick on an offensive tackle. As we've discussed, the Colts need to bolster their offensive line depth, but with much more pressing needs and a shortage of top 100 picks, using one of those selections on a backup lineman makes no sense with the Colts in a must-win season under Chris Ballard.

- Only one linebacker selection? This is a position that Ballard should be double-dipping at. That much help is needed.

- Two defensive tackles? With the additions made in free agency, the Colts are in a position where they do not need to pick a defensive tackle. While for the long-term outlook of this position group, that would be a wise move, given the potential for high roster turnover here next offseason, the current construction of the roster and the fact that it's now or never for this iteration of the Colts, they don't have the luxury of drafting two defensive tackles.

- Not to be a broken record, but the Colts don't have the luxury of drafting a quarterback. There are too many needs elsewhere.

- Ideally, the Colts would address safety before the very end of the draft. While the team added Jonathan Owens and Juanyeh Thomas in free agency, and also has Hunter Wohler, who the Colts are quite bullish on, it's not a given that any of those players can step in and provide a stable presence next to Cam Bynum. More competition is needed.
