ROCKFORD, Ill (WTVO) — It was a big night for boxing in downtown Rockford. The Fifth annual Rockford Boxing Classic was held at the City Market Pavilion.
Rockford’s Patriots Boxing Club hosted the event. It featured amateur boxers from clubs in Indiana and Wisconsin.
Rockford Patriots’ Boxing Club member Maria Wampfler fought in the only bout involving females, and she ended up winning her match. Along with her older brother Gus winning his match.
In a heavyweight bout, another Patriots Boxing Club boxer came out on top as Brian Javier defeated a fighter from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
In one of the main events, Rockford’s Angel Martinez scored a unanimous decision over Brian Ellis of Chicago, which was at 132 pounds. In the final fight of the night, Julian Lugo of Patriots Boxing Club won in a unanimous decision over Jarrelle Graves from Chicago at 176 pounds.
All in all, this was another great Rockford Boxing Classic for Rockford Patriots Boxing Club.
