The annual offseason NFL league meeting has been held in Arizona this week.
Along with ownership, a team's full front office is typically in attendance including head coaches and general managers. That means Brandon Beame was there representing the Buffalo Bills.
Beane had a video press conference held with media from the location and here are five quick takeaways from Brady's conversation:
On wide receiver DJ Moore, Brady was direct in saying he was part of the front-office faction that wanted the team to trade for him. The coach directly said he has been "wanting to coach him the last few years."
The more interesting comment was Brady's hint as to why. Brady believes Moore will make others around him better and wideout Khalil Shakir was directly mentioned:
Brady revealed some information regarding the offensive line cycle going on this offseason.
With David Edwards and Ryan Van Demark out via free agency, general manager Brandon Beane indicated that free-agent signee Austin Corbett and Alec Anderson would compete for the left guard spot.
Thanks to Brady, we know the potential plan for Lloyd Cushenberry as well. It appears the other free-agent addition by the Bills will not factor in at the guard battle, rather, he is center depth:
This is a change from the prototypical player former head coach Sean McDermott would target for his defense. Brady, and likely new defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard, want some grittier players on that side of the ball as Brady noted:
Beane said the Bills have exercised the fifth-year option on tight end Dalton Kincaid's rookie contract. That means he is under contract through the 2027 season.
Brady admitted he can't predict the future with tight end Dalton Kincaid's injury issues, but praised his play when he is on the field.
"You saw him in the playoffs," Brady said. "He's a difference maker."
Brady's full thoughts:
As has gone on for weeks and month, Brady has had to back wide receiver Keon Coleman once again...

DJ Moore idea
On wide receiver DJ Moore, Brady was direct in saying he was part of the front-office faction that wanted the team to trade for him. The coach directly said he has been "wanting to coach him the last few years."
The more interesting comment was Brady's hint as to why. Brady believes Moore will make others around him better and wideout Khalil Shakir was directly mentioned:
Joe Brady on how DJ Moore can help unleash Khalil Shakir: "Having a guy like DJ, it's going to help both of them... They can't just focus on one particular person."

Bills coach Joe Brady called Lloyd Cushenberry a “starting center” in the NFL.
One of the centers the Bills discussed as a possible replacement if McGovern left, but they got LC as an important depth player.

A change from McDermott
This is a change from the prototypical player former head coach Sean McDermott would target for his defense. Brady, and likely new defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard, want some grittier players on that side of the ball as Brady noted:
Joe Brady on the Bills looking for "nastier" players, such as C.J. Gardner-Johnson: "There is a personality, that I was looking for... You've got to have guys on your team that are going to stir the locker room a little bit.. you need those type of guys."

Yes, the Keon convo continued
As has gone on for weeks and month, Brady has had to back wide receiver Keon Coleman once again...
“He's going to continue to develop and we have a great plan of what we're going to do to be able to get him to be the receiver we ultimately drafted to be."
