There's welcome News from the leadership at One Bills Drive: Josh Allen should be completely healthy ahead of April's offseason workouts.
Buffalo Bills General Manager Brandon Beane provided a positive forecast on Allen's health. “His foot, I don’t want to say it’s 100 percent, but he’s good," Beane shared with The Athletic. "When he gets back in April, we expect him to be full-go.”
First-year Bills Head Coach Joe Brady emphasized Allen's recovery status. "He's good to go," Brady shared with NFL Network's Tom Pellisaro. "The thing about Josh Allen, he got surgery after the season, but he's playing as if you think there's nothing wrong with him. "
Allen broke a bone in his foot during a Week 16 matchup with the Cleveland Browns. Allen finished the game with only 130 yards on a 12-of-19 passing day.
While the injury hindered him a little bit, he did start every game for the remainder of the season.
Even with the ailment, Allen still put up big numbers in the playoffs. In two postseason games, Allen completed 71.6 percent of his passes (53-of-74), four touchdowns, and two interceptions. Allen added 23 total rushes for 99 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
Brady added, "The guy could barely walk, and then he's playing games and it's not impacting [his play]. He's built different. And let's hope it continues that way, but he'll be good to go in the offseason. I talk with him regularly. He's just excited to get going with guys like DJ Moore, kind of figure out what it's going to look like, just this new kind of era."
Beane also shared updates from Buffalo's medical staff as well: “Our medical team has checked up on him, and he’s talked to the surgeon that’s done it...(Buffalo head athletic trainer) Nate Breske and (Bills lead physician) Les Bisson have let us know he’s on track and should be ready to roll once we’re actually doing football stuff in April.”
The Bills start Phase One of their offseason program on April 21.
