Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal will likely be the biggest domino to fall before the 2026 MLB trade deadline. Plenty of other big names have emerged in rumors, however, from former Cy Young winners to one of the league's top sluggers.
The New York Mets -- who'll likely be busy over the next few days -- helped get the action going by sending reliever A.J. Minter to the Minnesota Twins in exchange for infielders Bruin Agbayani and Billy Amick. Agbayani is the son of Benny Agbayani, who played parts of four seasons for the Mets.
New York is far from the only seller, so with the deadline looming, let's take a look at some non-Skubal stars who would generate the most buzz if they were dealt.
The Cincinnati Reds ace is staying put, as USA TODAY Sports' Bob Nightengale reports the All-Star righty is no longer available after some earlier trade buzz.
A longtime subject of trade rumors, the 2022 Cy Young winner is likely to stick with the Miami Marlins through the deadline, according to Nightengale. The Marlins are reportedly listening on every other player on the roster, however.
The Boston Red Sox have inquired about Abrams, who's hitting .289/.362/.555 with 27 home runs and 82 RBI this season, according to Nightengale. However, the Washington Nationals' asking price is reportedly "extremely high," making a trade unlikely.
The New York Yankees are in talks with the Colorado Rockies about their two-time All-Star catcher, according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman. Goodman, who's tied for third in MLB with 31 home runs, reportedly has a less than 50% chance of being dealt.
The All-Star closer is likely to stick around as the San Diego Padres have won five of their last six games. Nightengale reports Padres president of baseball operations A.J. Preller is telling teams they plan to spend at the deadline.
